Mission Kitchen Aims to Make 10,000 Meals To Keep Small Food Businesses Alive and Fight Hunger

Mission Kitchen, the socially-minded kitchen space for food makers is helping to keep small food businesses alive and fight hunger during Covid-19. They partner with food banks, charities and community projects to get meals to the people who need the most. Every cook is paid for their time. Every meal is delivered for free.

Mission Meals launched in early May 2020 and following an initial fundraising campaign and have been able to work with 4 small businesses to produce more than 1,500 meals for vulnerable people in Southwark and Lambeth. They aim to triple the number of meals they make each week and continue the project through the summer months and beyond. Their target is to produce another 10,000 meals, helping 10 food business survive the crisis, and reaching thousands of those families who can’t access the food they need over the summer months.

Chris from Peckham Food Bank said “we have had to feed more people in the last 3 months than the whole of last year, and these meals make a huge difference to the families and isolated people we’re reaching.”

They are urgently seeking new funds for this project. To support this vital work click here.
